ATTRACTIONS
WATER WHEEL : working, pumping fresh spring water to 5 houses and stock on 60 acres.
WATER RAM PUMP : working, pumps fresh spring water to one dwelling and stock on 10 acres.
END OF LAVA FLOW : from the extinct Maungatapere Volcano.
LOVELY NATIVE BUSH : walk on marked trails in 60 acres of mature bush where native and introduced birds abound. Plus 20 acres of open space all in grass.
ANCIENT PURIRI TREE : estimated to be more than 500 years old.
ROCKS : covered in moss and lichens that have not been disturbed since Maungatapere Volcano threw them there thousands of years ago.
MAJOR WATER-SHED RIDGE : at one spot rain falling next to your right would drain into the Tasman Sea and rain falling to your left would drain into the Pacific Ocean.
THE HISTORICAL MAORI TRAIL : that Maori tribes used to get from the Whangarei Harbour to the Kaipara Harbour two hundred years ago before roads were developed passes through Hyde Park.
